At ITADINFO 2024 I co-authored, together with Giovanni Dodero, the paper “Un curricolo verticale per comprendere l’IA: dalle Reti Neurali alla Citizen Science”, published in the conference proceedings. The contribution introduces three educational proposals designed to help students understand and work with artificial neural networks through a vertical curriculum of increasing complexity.
The activities range from unplugged classroom games, where learners embody the nodes of a neural network, to practical experimentation with Open Roberta Lab, which allows students to configure and train explainable neural networks for robotics applications. The third strand connects AI to citizen science, using sensor-based data collection and analysis to foster critical awareness of how artificial intelligence interacts with society.
This work contributes to the development of innovative teaching practices that promote a critical and ethical understanding of AI, preparing students to become informed and responsible digital citizens.
