Learning More Festival 2024

Grateful to have been involved once again by Future Education Modena in the Learning More Festival 2024 in Modena.

I’m sharing three key takeaways from my two days (November 9-10) at the festival:

  • Even in early childhood education, it is possible to work in small groups on a learning task designed to be carried out independently. When teachers are able to “design their own absence,” they create space for meaning-making, co-construction of knowledge, and the development of social competences.
  • Artificial Intelligence is increasingly taking on traits we usually associate with humans — empathy, affection, memory — and has become one of our daily interlocutors. How is this changing our communication and our relationships, not only with technology but also with each other? These are not merely technological questions, but cultural, political, and educational ones.
  • It is essential to continuously deepen our understanding of how different disciplines provide complementary perspectives on reality, intertwining to build a more comprehensive understanding and to enable truly interdisciplinary design. Hiding behind the “fear of trespassing” means losing a powerful educational opportunity and denying students a more authentic approach to learning. After all, we learn for life — or, as Alessandro d’Avenia beautifully puts it, to be alive.
